Description

The Canon 5Ds is an amazing medium format DSLR with a super high resolution CMOS sensor. A 50.6MP sensor will allow you to get creative when cropping your images and will allow you to print large scale images if needed. Images will be super sharp and if you zoom in your photos you will still be able to see minute details.

The Canon 5Ds has a long list of appealing features to any professional photographer such as a 61-point reticular AF system, an ISO range that goes from 100 to 6400 but can be expanded to 50-12800, a virtually identical magnesium alloy body to the Mark iii body, a 1.3X and 1.6X crop modes that allow you to zoom in an image without losing resolution, a time-lapse movie funtion that creates a time-lapse video in camera and a USB 3.0 port for fast image transferring.

In addition it also offers video at 1080p 30p, a jack for an external microphone and a 3.2" Clear View LCD.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • 1 ) Does the Canon 5Ds use a CF card or a SD card slot?

The Canon 5Ds uses dual memory card slots supporting one CF (UDMA Mode 7) and one SD/SDHC/SDXC (UHS-I) memory card just like the Canon Mark iii.

  • 2 ) When using the crop 1.3x and 1.6x modes what will the resolution be?

When shooting at 1.3X crop mode with your 5Ds the resolution of your image will be about 30.5MP and images shot at 1.6X crop mode will be a little less than 20MP. So if you shoot with a 200mm lens it would be the equivalent of using a 320mm lens with a 1.6X crop and you would be getting the same resolution as if you were shooting with a Canon 5D Mark ii.
