Christopher Mikel McCray aka Mykel Monroe was introduced to us by somebody who has been renting from us for a long time. He is a photographer and videographer who owns “Persona Magazine”. On 12/19/16 he rented a Canon 5D Mark iii package including a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 II, 50mm f1.2 and Canon 35mm f1.4 with the intention of returning on 12/21/16. On that day, he was unreachable until the end of the day when he said he was in the hospital where “they were running tests” and he would return the next day. The following day he did not return the equipment and said he’d return on Friday at the end of day. On Friday he asked to return the following day then on Saturday he did not respond to any calls or texts. On Christmas morning we called the person that introduced us to see if he could reach him. About 20 minutes later, he texted to “please call him because someone had taken the equipment from his car”. Over the phone he explained that the previous night he had “a couple of drinks” and forgot to lock the door of his car where he had left the equipment bag. To the question why he had not replied to any of the calls or texts the previous day until that day, he said “he had no answer to that”. After filing the police report, so far he has refused to meet in person to discuss a payment plan to cover the total value of the equipment that got “taken from his car”. We are currently in the process of filing a small claims case.
